Concept Design

Grimshaw has completed the concept design of a purpose built wetlands centre at H D Graham Reserve. Grimshaw leads a team of specialist consultants that bring expertise in wetlands landscaping, indigenous design and culturally responsive engagement practices. HBWC is working closely with Hobsons Bay City Council who are managing the design phase of the project.

Heritage Hobsons Bay presented an online panel discussion that explores indigenous cultural heritage landscapes featuring indigenous architect Jefa Greenaway, and Nick Griffin, landscape architect. Biophilic and Indigenous design principles guided the design. The panel was hosted by Hobsons Bay City Council. Find out more about Caring for Country – indigenous design principles here.

Response to the SoE 2021 Report

On July 19th 2022, the Federal Government released the 2021 State of the Environment Report which paints a dire picture of the current state of our country and its precious natural environment. Grants

We acknowledge the support of the Ross Trust with a grant for our conservation program from 2023-2025.  The Ross Trust is a perpetual charitable trust with a vision to create positive social and environmental change so Victorians can thrive. The Trust was established in 1970 in Victoria by the will of the late Roy Everard Ross.

We are also pleased to acknowledge the support of the Hobsons Bay City Council, which is supporting two Hobsons Bay Wetlands Centre Open Days in 2024 through its Make it Happen Grants program. The Council has also provided a Make it Happen Grant in 2024-2025  to support the training of our wetland guides.

We are excited to be a recipient of the Victorian Government’s West Gate Neighbourhood Fund.  The grant will go towards our Open Day on 10 May 2025 when we will invite the diverse community of the western suburbs to join us.  The West Gate Neighbourhood Fund is a Victorian Government initiative that is helping not-for-profit organisations in Melbourne’s inner west to support their communities while the West Gate Tunnel Project is being built.

We are grateful to Mobil Melbourne Terminal for contributing to our Open Days in 2024 with the aim of connecting local communities to each other and to nature.
